Permission to be simple

“My sisters and I are the first people in our family to have college educations. I had a founder I worked with once tell me that he did not trust I was articulate enough to lead because I used simple language. Today was very validating. I learned that we all have permission to communicate simply for understanding." – Bill Good, Chief of Communications, Denver Public Schools

It’s a relief for many to hear that they are being more inclusive when they don’t stretch to use language that doesn’t sound impressive.
