No feedback means people create stories

At a recent refresher training for a group of incredible scientists, a few mentioned that when they don't get feedback, their imagination takes over.

This could be no response to an email they sent or a project they submitted.

When we don't get a response, we often assume the worst.

Feedback or active receipt can be clear and concise, and it should be immediate.

If you don't have time to respond to an email, rather than not responding you can write "Thanks for this, I'll respond by Friday. Feel free to follow up if I don't."

If you're interviewing candidates, give them frequent updates rather than keeping them in suspense.

Have you had experiences where you wished you received more immediate feedback? Share your experiences with me please. Thanks!
